Pur Minerals Melt Away Makeup Emulsifier

DSC_5672

As the name Pur Melt Away would suggest, this breaks down makeup quickly and easily melting all traces of product. I have been using this as the first step in my night time skincare routine and following up with the Ultrabland cleanser from Lush previously reviewed here.

With regards to the packaging, it’s not the best. As this has a flip top cap it is prone to leaking. In fact, the first bottle I ordered online had to be returned and a new one sent out as the oil had leaked out.

Ingredients
Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Fragrance (Parfum), Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Oil, Juniperus Virginiana Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Maltodextrin, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Concentrate

I’ve noticed this has received very poor reviews on Paula Begoun’s (Founder of Paula’s Choice) website Beautypedia. The review stated that the fragrant oils in the Pur Melt Away were irritating to the skin. I can’t comment on that myself and I’m no skincare expert however I have noticed that this product is very irritating on my eyes. I find this frustrating as the makeup that’s most difficult to remove is on the eyes. This is where I wanted this product to succeed but it hasn’t. I’ve also read reviews from people with sensitive or acne prone skin who have said that they couldn’t use this due to it irritating the skin.

Despite the fact that this does effectively remove my makeup I’m afraid I cannot recommend this one to you. There are better products on the market that will remove your makeup whilst being kind to your skin. I can personally recommend the Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm from my own experience. I’ve also heard good things about the First Aid Beauty Milk Oil Conditioning Cleanser however I’ve not tried this for myself yet.

Do you have any recommendations for products that remove makeup gently?
